Sometimes the best ideas arrive unexpectedly. That is how this project began: Martynas Papievis, co-founder of Rocky Spoon, saw a chance to bring two worlds together — gourmet flavour and bold art.
The inspiration came from chef Artūras Rakauskas, the soul of Kuchmistrai restaurant and an explorer of historical flavours. His passion for the cuisine of the sixteenth-century Grand Duchy of Lithuania became the starting point for a distinctive product: one jar holding centuries of stories.
The recipe was created by Rocky Spoon director Sigita Papievienė, who loves unexpected ingredients and memorable flavours. She chose cucumbers, apples, onions, dill, parsley, turmeric and a subtle touch of garlic — ingredients with a place in the cuisine of the Grand Duchy that still feel contemporary today.
The visual story matters just as much. The label features a detail from Artūras Rakauskas’s painting: a portrait of Bona Sforza. It reminds us that every flavour has a history. Bona Sforza, ruler of Lithuania and Poland, was known not only for her political skill but also for her love of gardening and vegetables, especially cucumbers. Her portrait is both a visual signature and a reference to the spirit of the product.
Bona Sforza’s Mizerija is more than an everyday condiment. It is a culinary journey through time, from sixteenth-century palace kitchens to today’s gourmet dinners, created for people who enjoy surprises and a little history on their plate.
This project shows what can happen when history, art and flavour meet: a product that tells its story through taste.
